Description:  The Southern Leopard Frog ranges is size from 2.0-3.5 inches.  Coloration is usually a mixture of brown and green with black or brown round spots.  The light spot in the tympanum (eardrum) is one characteristic to distinguish this species from the Northern Leopard Frog.

Habitat:  Found in shallow water areas such as ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and temporary pools.  Will range far from water at times.

Behavior:  The voice is a low chuckling sound.  This frog has a strong leaping ability.
