Description:  The Northern Dusky Salamander ranges in size from 2.5-4.5 inches.  Coloration is gray to brown with light mottling with darker colors.  A light line runs from the eye to the jaw.  The tail is keeled (knife-edged) on top.  Mouth line is relatively straight, as opposed to the sinuous mouth line of the Mountain Dusky Salamander.

Habitat:  Found in and around rocky streams, rills and seep areas.
